Kurdish Language

Kurdish language (Kurdish: Kurdî‎ کوردی) constitute a dialect continuum, belonging to the Indo-European language family, spoken by Kurds in Kurdistan and the Kurdish diaspora. The Kurdish dialects are Northern Kurdish (Kurmanji/ KMR), Central Kurdish (Sorani/ CKB), Southern Kurdish (Pahlawani/ Laki) and Zazaki–Gorani. Most Kurdish texts are written in Kurmanji and Sorani. Kurmanji is the formal language of Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) and it is written in the Hawar alphabet, a derivation of the Latin script, and Sorani is the formal language of Kurdistan Region-Iraq and it is written in the Sorani alphabet, a derivation of Arabic script.
